On October 24, 2024, Apptronik announced the commercial deployment of its Apollo humanoid robot across South Asia, establishing a direct entry into the Indian automation sector. The company has finalized pilot contracts with three industrial clients in Maharashtra and Karnataka to evaluate Apollo’s autonomous navigation, object manipulation, and voice-command integration in high-throughput warehouse environments.
The Apollo platform utilizes a 55-degree-of-freedom actuator array, dual 6-axis wrist manipulators, and a 30-hour operational battery life with fast-charging capability. Apptronik has structured a localized pricing model to address regional market dynamics. The base hardware package is priced at ₹42 lakhs ($50,000), while annual AI navigation and fleet management software subscriptions are set at ₹6 lakhs. Through a newly launched MSME and academic partnership program, qualifying institutions can access discounted units starting at ₹28 lakhs, leveraging state-level automation incentives.
Installation, calibration, and after-sales support will be managed by certified Indian system integrators, including RoboTech Solutions in Bangalore and Automate India in Hyderabad. The robots comply with India’s Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) electrical safety protocols and carry CE marking for international interoperability. Industry observers note that the ₹42 lakh entry price significantly undercuts European competitors, which typically range between ₹1.1 crore and ₹1.4 crores for equivalent payload and precision specifications.
Field trials will begin in November 2024, with full commercial handover targeted for Q2 2025. The deployment reflects a broader industry trend where humanoid robot manufacturers are adapting hardware costs, software localization, and maintenance networks to capture India’s expanding industrial automation demand. As domestic policy frameworks continue to support robotics adoption, the Apollo rollout establishes a new benchmark for pricing and operational accessibility in the region.
The software ecosystem includes ROS 2-compatible development kits, allowing Indian developers to customize task-specific workflows for inventory sorting, quality inspection, and material transport. Apptronik has also partnered with IIT Madras’s robotics lab to develop region-specific training datasets optimized for monsoon humidity and varying warehouse lighting conditions. Expansion into Delhi-NCR and Tamil Nadu manufacturing corridors is planned for early 2025, with localized assembly components expected to reduce import dependency by 40 percent.
