Bharat Robotics Labs Unveils Affordable Humanoid Robot for Indian Warehouses - RobotWale News
Bharat Robotics Labs Enters the Humanoid Arena
Bengaluru-based Bharat Robotics Labs (BRL) today officially launched the Bharat Bot-1, a purpose-built humanoid robot designed to revolutionize logistics and manufacturing sectors within India. The announcement was made at a press event held at the company's R&D facility in Electronic City, marking a significant milestone for the domestic robotics ecosystem.
Technical Specifications and Pricing
The Bharat Bot-1 stands at 1.7 meters tall and features a load-carrying capacity of up to 50 kilograms. Equipped with advanced computer vision and AI-driven navigation systems, the robot is capable of autonomously identifying packages, sorting them, and transporting them across warehouse floors. BRL claims the integration of indigenous sensors reduces dependency on imported components, a key factor in its competitive pricing.
In a move aimed at making automation accessible to Indian Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), BRL has priced the Bharat Bot-1 at ₹15 lakh ($18,000). This places it at a fraction of the cost of comparable international models, which often retail between $50,000 and $100,000. The company plans to offer leasing options starting at ₹50,000 per month to further lower the barrier to entry for smaller businesses.
Industry Impact and Future Roadmap
Dr. Arjun Mehta, CEO of Bharat Robotics Labs, stated that the launch addresses the growing labor shortage in India’s manufacturing and logistics hubs. With the government’s Production-Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme supporting robotics adoption, the Bot-1 is positioned to capture significant market share in the coming fiscal year.
BRL has already secured pilot orders from three major e-commerce logistics partners in Delhi and Mumbai. The company aims to scale production to 1,000 units by the end of the year. Additionally, BRL plans to open a new manufacturing unit in Hyderabad to meet the anticipated demand. The launch underscores India’s growing capability in developing high-end robotics hardware at competitive global prices. This initiative aligns with the national vision to establish India as a global hub for AI and robotics innovation.
