Strategic Pilots and Domestic Manufacturing

The company has secured pilot agreements with three mid-scale manufacturing units in Tamil Nadu and Maharashtra, focusing on automotive component production and electronics assembly. Kairos Robotics plans to manufacture 80 percent of the Astra-1’s components domestically, leveraging India’s growing precision engineering ecosystem. The robot features a custom AI vision system trained on Indian factory floor conditions, enabling real-time adaptability to unstructured environments and legacy machinery interfaces.

Industry Response and Future Roadmap

Early feedback from pilot partners highlights a 30 percent reduction in manual labor costs and improved safety compliance in high-temperature work zones. Kairos Robotics CEO Arjun Mehta stated that the company aims to deliver 500 units by the third quarter of 2025, with plans to expand into logistics and healthcare sectors. The launch aligns with the Indian government’s Production Linked Incentive scheme for advanced robotics, which offers direct subsidies for indigenous hardware development. The Astra-1 stands at 1.7 meters tall, weighs 65 kilograms, and operates on a modular lithium-iron-phosphate battery system providing up to eight hours of continuous operation. Its control architecture runs on a proprietary Linux-based operating system with ROS 2 integration, allowing seamless connectivity with existing PLC and ERP systems.
