Bangalore-based robotics startup SRE Robotics has officially announced the commercial availability of its humanoid robot, marking a pivotal moment for India's automation sector. The newly unveiled model, designated as the SRE-1, is priced at approximately ₹25 lakhs. This pricing strategy positions the robot as a significantly more affordable alternative to imported humanoid systems, which often exceed ₹50 lakhs. The device is engineered for repetitive tasks such as inventory sorting, packaging, and light assembly line work. According to the company's technical specifications, the SRE-1 operates on a 24-hour cycle with a battery life of six hours, requiring only short charging breaks. The unit weighs 50 kilograms and features a torque of 300Nm in the joints, allowing it to handle moderate loads.

Industry Relevance

India's manufacturing sector has been under pressure to increase productivity. By introducing a locally manufactured humanoid robot, SRE Robotics addresses the high cost of imports and the lack of after-sales support often associated with foreign brands. The company emphasized that maintenance and technical support will be handled entirely within India, primarily from their Bengaluru headquarters.
