The capital will be allocated toward scaling manufacturing capacity, refining the company’s proprietary actuator systems, and initiating pilot deployments across major logistics hubs in India.

Nava Robotics, founded in 2021 by former ISRO and Tata Advanced Systems engineers, has spent the past three years developing the NV-1 humanoid platform. The company officially transitioned from prototype to pre-production in early 2024, completing rigorous safety certifications with the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS). The fresh funding injection marks a significant milestone for India’s emerging humanoid robotics sector, which has historically struggled with capital-intensive hardware development.

The NV-1 platform features a 1.8-meter frame weighing 95 kilograms, equipped with a custom-designed 40-degree-of-freedom actuator suite that enables agile bipedal locomotion and fine motor manipulation. Powered by a modular solid-state battery pack, the robot delivers up to eight hours of continuous operation on a single charge. Nava Robotics has confirmed a unit pricing of ₹18.5 lakhs for early enterprise adopters, significantly undercutting imported alternatives that typically range between $80,000 and $120,000.

The system integrates a localized AI inference engine running on indigenous edge-computing hardware, allowing the robot to navigate unstructured warehouse environments without reliance on cloud connectivity. Nava claims the NV-1 can handle 60% of standard material handling tasks currently performed by human workers, including pallet stacking, inventory scanning, and load sorting.

India Market Expansion Plans

With the funding secured, Nava Robotics will establish a dedicated production facility in Tamil Nadu by Q2 2025, aiming for a monthly output of 200 units. The company has already signed preliminary deployment agreements with three major e-commerce logistics partners operating across Delhi-NCR, Mumbai, and Chennai. These initial deployments will focus on night-shift automation to address labor shortages in India’s rapidly expanding supply chain sector.
