Bengaluru-based humanoid robotics startup Nebula Robotics announced the closure of a ₹150 crore Series A funding round on October 12, 2024. The round was co-led by Blume Ventures and Lightspeed India Partners, with participation from Sequoia India, Tata Elxsi Ventures, and several strategic angel investors from the automotive and industrial automation sectors. The capital will primarily fund mass production capabilities, AI model localization, and commercial deployment across Indian enterprises.
Product Launch and India Market Focus
Alongside the funding announcement, Nebula Robotics unveiled its flagship humanoid platform, the NW-1, designed specifically for high-repetition tasks in Indian manufacturing, logistics, and healthcare facilities. The company has confirmed a base unit price of ₹22 lakhs, positioning the robot as one of the most cost-effective general-purpose humanoid systems available in the domestic market. The NW-1 features a 40-degree-of-freedom articulated frame, force-torque sensing in all joints, and an onboard edge-computing module optimized for low-latency task execution in unstructured environments.
Recognizing the unique operational requirements of Indian industries, Nebula has integrated region-specific AI training data to handle diverse lighting conditions, variable power supply fluctuations, and multilingual voice command interfaces. The system supports Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, and English, enabling seamless integration into shop floors and hospital wards without extensive retraining. Early pilot deployments have already been initiated with three mid-sized automotive component manufacturers in Tamil Nadu and two tier-2 logistics hubs in Maharashtra.
Scaling Operations and Industry Impact
Nebula Robotics plans to establish a dedicated humanoid assembly line in Hosur, Karnataka, by Q2 2025, targeting an initial production capacity of 500 units annually. The startup has also entered into a technology-sharing agreement with the Indian Institute of Technology Madras to develop adaptive locomotion algorithms tailored for uneven factory flooring and crowded workspaces. Industry analysts note that the pricing strategy and localized AI stack could accelerate humanoid adoption across India’s MSME sector, where labor shortages and rising wage costs have historically limited automation uptake.
With the new capital, Nebula will expand its software subscription model, offering fleet management dashboards and predictive maintenance analytics at ₹15,000 per robot per month. The company projects break-even operations by late 2026 and aims to capture a significant share of India’s emerging industrial humanoid market, which is currently projected to exceed ₹8,000 crores by 2028.
