Nova Robotics Secures $15M Series A to Scale Humanoid Manufacturing in India - RobotWale News
Series A Funding Secured for Affordable Humanoid Production
Bengaluru-based humanoid robotics startup Nova Robotics announced on October 24, 2024, the closing of a $15 million Series A funding round. The capital will be deployed to scale domestic manufacturing of its NH-1 humanoid platform, which carries a base price of ₹12 lakhs per unit. The round was led by Tata Capital and included participation from global automation investors, alongside a ₹50 crore grant from the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade under the India Innovation Grant.
Domestic Manufacturing and Pricing Strategy
The newly funded production facility in Hosur, Tamil Nadu, will commence mass assembly in Q2 2025. Nova Robotics has structured its pricing to undercut imported competitors by approximately 40 percent, making the NH-1 accessible to mid-tier Indian manufacturers. The robot features a 28-degree-of-freedom upper body, a torque-controlled lower limb, and a localized AI stack trained on Indian industrial datasets. Pricing includes a three-year maintenance package and on-site integration support across Chennai, Pune, and Gurgaon.
Target Sectors and Deployment Timeline
Initial deployments will focus on automotive assembly lines, electronics packaging, and warehousing logistics. The startup has already secured letters of intent from four Tier-1 Indian OEMs for pilot installations starting January 2025. Each unit is designed to operate continuously for 16 hours per shift, with battery swapping taking under four minutes. The company plans to export 1,200 units annually to Southeast Asia and the Middle East by 2026.
Funding Allocation and Regulatory Alignment
Proceeds will be split 60 percent toward robotic actuator production, 25 percent toward AI training infrastructure, and 15 percent toward regulatory compliance and safety certification under India’s new robotics safety guidelines. Co-founder and CEO Arjun Mehta stated that the funding accelerates the company’s goal of achieving full supply chain localization for harmonic drives and servo motors within 18 months. The Indian humanoid robotics market is projected to exceed ₹4,500 crore by 2027, driven by labor shortages and government incentives for smart manufacturing.
