RoboMind Technologies Secures $10 Million Series A for Humanoid Robotics - RobotWale News
Bengaluru-Based Startup Secures Major Funding Round
BENGALURU: RoboMind Technologies Pvt Ltd, a Bengaluru-based startup specializing in humanoid robotics, announced today a strategic Series A funding round of $10 million. The round was led by India Tech Ventures with participation from existing investors including Bengaluru Angels Network and Global Robotics Capital. The capital will be utilized to scale manufacturing capabilities and advance the development of their flagship humanoid unit, the RM-1.
Market Entry and Product Specifications
The RM-1 humanoid robot is designed specifically for the Indian manufacturing sector. It features 14 degrees of freedom, allowing for complex manipulation tasks traditionally performed by human laborers. The robot weighs 65 kilograms and is capable of lifting up to 20 kilograms. Pricing for the RM-1 is set at approximately ₹15 lakhs, making it significantly more affordable than imported counterparts which often exceed ₹50 lakhs. This pricing strategy aims to disrupt the current high-cost market where automation remains out of reach for small and medium enterprises (SMEs).
Strategic Goals for Indian Manufacturing
Co-founder and CEO Ravi Sharma stated that the funding addresses the critical labor shortage in India’s automotive and electronics assembly lines. The company aims to deploy 500 units across India within the next 18 months. Partnerships with major industrial zones in Tamil Nadu and Gujarat are already in negotiation. This initiative aligns with the Indian government’s Production Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme aimed at boosting domestic manufacturing. The startup plans to collaborate with local suppliers to reduce dependency on imported components, aiming for 60% localization by the end of 2025.
Future Roadmap and Investor Confidence
The Series A investment will primarily fund the establishment of an assembly plant in Pune. Additionally, 30% of the budget is allocated to research and development for AI-driven autonomy features. The team currently employs 45 engineers and plans to hire 50 more specialized robotics engineers by the end of the fiscal year. The proprietary operating system, RM-OS, will be open-sourced for educational institutions to foster a talent pool in robotics.
The announcement comes amid a global surge in humanoid robotics investment, with companies like Tesla Optimus and Figure AI gaining traction. However, RoboMind focuses on localization, ensuring software and hardware compliance with Indian infrastructure standards. Industry analysts suggest this funding could position RoboMind as a key player in India's emerging robotics ecosystem. The funding round closes the company’s valuation at $40 million, marking a significant milestone for the Indian robotics sector which has seen a 25% year-on-year growth in venture capital inflows.
Investors are betting on the localization of robotics as a key differentiator for the Indian market, according to Anjali Mehta, Partner at India Tech Ventures. She noted that the capital infusion will enable rapid scaling without compromising on cost-efficiency.
