The IndusBot X1 features an 18-degree-of-freedom articulated chassis, dual 6-axis robotic arms, and a 360-degree LiDAR navigation system. Equipped with a custom neural processing unit, the robot operates at 2.4 GHz with low-latency edge computing capabilities. It supports grasp forces up to 25 kilograms and maintains a payload capacity of 15 kilograms across its arms. The system runs on VikramOS 4.0, an open-source Linux distribution optimized for industrial robotics, which includes pre-loaded computer vision models for object detection, pallet stacking, and quality inspection.

India Market Relevance and Pricing

Priced at ₹18.5 lakhs for the base configuration, the IndusBot X1 targets a fraction of the cost of comparable Western and Japanese humanoid platforms, which typically exceed ₹1.2 crores. Vikram Robotics has secured Domestic Technical Certification and aligned the robot with India’s PLI scheme guidelines for advanced manufacturing. The company also announced a leasing model starting at ₹2.1 lakhs per month, designed to lower the barrier to entry for textile, automotive, and logistics SMEs across Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra, and Gujarat. Educational institutions can access a campus license variant at ₹9.8 lakhs, bundled with curriculum modules for robotics engineering.

Deployment and Supply Chain

Assembly of the IndusBot X1 will occur at Vikram Robotics’ new fabrication facility in Hosur, leveraging a supply chain that sources 72 percent of components from Indian manufacturers. The company has partnered with three major Indian logistics firms for pilot deployments, with initial shipments scheduled for Q3 2024. Vikram Robotics confirmed that software localization will support Hindi, Tamil, and Kannada voice command interfaces, alongside regional safety compliance protocols mandated by the Bureau of Indian Standards.
