The funding will primarily drive the ramp-up of manufacturing capabilities at Agili.AI's facility in Hosur, Tamil Nadu, aiming for a production capacity of 500 units annually by mid-2025. The capital will also expand its R&D team focused on proprietary actuators, reducing reliance on imported components. CEO Arjun Mehta stated, "Our goal is to bridge the gap between advanced robotics and the economic realities of Indian businesses. This funding allows us to localize the supply chain and drive down costs without compromising on safety or performance."

Axiom-1 Launch and Aggressive Pricing

Coinciding with the funding announcement, Agili.AI showcased its latest iteration, the Axiom-1, designed specifically for warehouse logistics, last-mile delivery, and assembly line tasks. The robot represents a strategic move to capture the Indian MSME market, which accounts for over 90% of industrial units in the country.

In a move to democratize access, Agili.AI priced the Axiom-1 at ₹45 lakhs ($54,000). This pricing is significantly lower than imported humanoids, which typically range from $80,000 to $150,000, including shipping and localization costs. The startup offers a "Robot-as-a-Service" (RaaS) model starting at ₹75,000 per month, further lowering the barrier to entry for smaller factories and warehouses.

Technical Specs and India-Centric Features

The Axiom-1 features a lightweight carbon-fiber exoskeleton and a hybrid actuation system combining electric motors and hydraulic components for high torque density. It can handle payloads of up to 20 kg and operates for 8 hours on a single charge. The robot's navigation stack utilizes SLAM technology optimized for unstructured environments common in Indian industrial settings.

A key differentiator is the localization of the AI core. The Axiom-1's operating system includes native support for Hindi, Tamil, and Bengali voice commands, allowing it to integrate smoothly with local workforce management protocols. The startup has also partnered with IIT Madras for joint research on adaptive gait algorithms for uneven terrain, enhancing the robot's applicability in semi-structured Indian environments.

Market Outlook
