The funding marks a pivotal moment for the Indian humanoid robotics ecosystem. RoboForge, established in 2022 by founders Rajesh Kumar and Anjali Singh, has been developing affordable humanoid robots tailored for industrial automation and logistics. Domestic Manufacturing Focus

A key component of the investment plan involves establishing a dedicated manufacturing facility in Chennai. The startup intends to build a localized supply chain for critical components, reducing dependency on imported hardware. This initiative aligns with the Indian government's 'Make in India' initiative, which encourages domestic innovation in advanced technologies.

The facility will be capable of producing 500 units annually in its first phase. This move is expected to create over 200 direct jobs in engineering and manufacturing roles across South India, contributing to the region's growing tech economy.

Pricing and Product Launch

RoboForge is preparing to release its flagship model, the 'RF-X1', in the Indian market by the third quarter of 2024. The company has set a target price of approximately ₹25 lakhs for the unit. This pricing strategy positions the robot as a cost-effective alternative to high-priced imported robotic solutions currently dominating the Indian industrial sector.

The RF-X1 is designed to handle tasks such as material handling, assembly line operations, and warehouse logistics. It features a payload capacity of 25 kilograms and an operational battery life of eight hours. The startup claims that the robot is equipped with proprietary vision systems capable of navigating complex environments using edge computing.

Industry Outlook

Industry analysts view this funding round as a testament to the growing confidence in India's deep-tech sector. The humanoid robotics market is expected to grow significantly over the next decade, driven by labor shortages and increasing automation demands in manufacturing.
