NeuraBotics India Unveils Pragati-1, First Mass-Producible Humanoid Robot for Domestic Manufacturing - RobotWale News
First Affordable Humanoid Platform Unveiled for Indian Industry
On 15 October 2024, Bengaluru-based robotics developer NeuraBotics India officially launched the Pragati-1 humanoid robot at the Bharat Robotics & AI Expo. The six-foot-tall, 65-kilogram platform is engineered for factory automation, warehouse logistics, and hazardous material handling across Indian SMEs. Commercial deliveries are scheduled to commence in Q1 2025, with the base unit priced at ₹22 lakhs excluding GST. The company emphasized that the pricing structure includes a two-year maintenance package and localized software updates.
Technical Specifications and Domestic Supply Chain
Pragati-1 features 32 degrees of freedom, a custom-tuned torque-controlled joint system, and an onboard edge-computing module powered by indigenous AI accelerators. The robot integrates real-time SLAM navigation, multi-modal vision sensors, and a modular end-effector suite that can be rapidly swapped for welding, palletizing, or quality inspection tasks. All core components, including high-torque actuators, harmonic reduction gears, and safety-rated control boards, are manufactured within India. This localization strategy directly supports the government’s Production Linked Incentive scheme for advanced robotics and reduces dependency on imported motion controllers.
Market Positioning and Industry Adoption
The launch addresses a critical gap in the Indian automation market, where imported humanoid platforms typically exceed ₹1.5 crore and require lengthy import clearances. Pragati-1’s domestic pricing, combined with rapid on-site deployment capabilities, targets mid-sized manufacturers in automotive, electronics, and FMCG sectors. NeuraBotics has already secured pilot deployment agreements with three industrial corridors in Tamil Nadu and Maharashtra. Industry observers note that the robot’s open software development kit and modular hardware architecture could significantly lower the barrier to entry for regional system integrators.
Next Steps and Ecosystem Development
NeuraBotics plans to release a centralized fleet management dashboard and a subscription-based AI training module in early 2025. Collaborative research with IIT Madras and IIT Bombay will focus on refining dynamic balance algorithms and force-feedback safety protocols for human-robot collaboration. The company is also working with the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology to align its safety certifications with India’s upcoming workplace automation guidelines. As domestic manufacturing capacity scales, the Pragati-1 could establish a new benchmark for affordable, locally supported humanoid robotics in South Asia.
