India’s Vayu Robotics Unveils Arya-1 Humanoid at Robotics Week India 2024 - RobotWale News

Robotics Week India 2024 Showcases Domestic Humanoid Breakthroughs

Held from November 12 to 15, 2024, at the Bangalore International Exhibition Centre, Robotics Week India 2024 concluded with a landmark demonstration of homegrown humanoid robotics. The event, organized by the Robotics Society of India in partnership with the Department of Science and Technology, drew over 40,000 attendees and 350 exhibitors from 28 countries. The centerpiece of the domestic showcase was the official debut of the Arya-1 humanoid robot by Bengaluru-based startup Vayu Robotics.

Arya-1 Specifications and Commercial Availability

The Arya-1, standing 1.7 meters tall and weighing 65 kilograms, features a fully articulated 42-degree-of-freedom frame powered by custom silicon torque actuators. Vayu Robotics confirmed that the unit utilizes a hybrid vision-language model trained on localized industrial datasets, enabling real-time navigation in unstructured warehouse environments. The company announced commercial availability starting in Q2 2025, with base pricing set at ₹18.5 lakhs for the core platform. Additional sensor payloads and specialized gripper modules are priced separately, ranging from ₹2.1 lakhs to ₹4.8 lakhs depending on configuration.

International Partnerships and Sector Applications

Alongside domestic launches, the expo facilitated several cross-border technology transfer agreements. Japanese joint venture partner Kurogane Heavy Industries displayed its latest collaboration with Indian logistics firms to integrate humanoid units into last-mile delivery pilot programs. Meanwhile, Korean component suppliers showcased high-density battery packs and harmonic drive gears specifically calibrated for India’s tropical operational climate. Industry analysts noted that the pricing structure for imported humanoid platforms at the expo ranged between $45,000 and $120,000, making the domestic Arya-1 model highly competitive for small and medium enterprises.

Future Expo Roadmap and Industry Impact

Robotics Week India 2024 also established the foundation for the 2025 Global Humanoid Robotics Expo, scheduled for November 2025 in Hyderabad. The organizing committee confirmed that exhibition space will prioritize affordable entry tiers for Indian startups, with booth packages starting at ₹75,000 for early registration. Government grants under the Production Linked Incentive scheme for advanced robotics are expected to further subsidize adoption in automotive assembly and healthcare sectors. Event organizers projected that domestic humanoid deployments could exceed 12,000 units annually by 2027, driven by the expo’s direct industry matchmaking programs and standardized safety certification frameworks.
