Bengaluru-based humanoid robotics startup Kryon Robotics announced on October 12, 2024, the successful closure of a $15 million Series A funding round. The investment was led by IndoVentures Capital, with participation from existing backers TechMatter Funds and Singapore-based Robotics Growth Partners. The capital will be deployed to scale domestic manufacturing, expand R&D capabilities, and accelerate commercial deployments across logistics and manufacturing sectors in India and Southeast Asia.

Domestic Assembly Line and Cost Reduction Targets

Central to Kryon’s expansion strategy is the establishment of a dedicated humanoid assembly facility in Hosur, Tamil Nadu, scheduled to commence operations by Q2 2025. The startup aims to leverage local supply chain partnerships to reduce component import dependency, targeting a unit production cost below $25,000. This pricing structure positions Kryon’s flagship model, the KX-1, competitively against imported alternatives that currently range between $60,000 and $80,000 in the Indian market.

Product Deployment and Industry Partnerships

Kryon Robotics has already secured pilot agreements with three major Indian automotive manufacturers and two e-commerce fulfillment centers. The KX-1 humanoid unit is equipped with a 20-degrees-of-freedom actuator system, computer vision modules, and a proprietary navigation stack optimized for structured warehouse environments. Early field trials indicate a 40 percent reduction in repetitive task handling time compared to traditional automated guided vehicles.

Market Context and Regulatory Alignment

The funding comes amid a broader surge in India’s robotics sector, driven by government incentives under the Production Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme for advanced hardware. Kryon’s expansion aligns with the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology’s push for indigenous automation solutions.
