NxtGen Robotics Secures $45M Series B to Scale Humanoid Manufacturing in India - RobotWale News
Series B Funding Secured for Domestic Humanoid Production
Indian robotics startup NxtGen Robotics officially closed a $45 million Series B funding round on May 14, 2024, marking one of the largest institutional investments in the country’s humanoid robotics sector to date. The capital, led by Singapore-based Horizon Ventures with participation from existing investors including Indian Angel Network and Global Founders Capital, will be deployed to scale manufacturing capabilities and accelerate the commercial rollout of the company’s Atlas-X humanoid platform. The announcement comes as domestic manufacturers increasingly seek automation solutions to address labor shortages and rising operational costs across automotive, electronics, and logistics verticals.
Commercial Pricing and Indian Market Focus
NxtGen Robotics has positioned the Atlas-X platform specifically for the Indian market, with a target retail price of ₹15 lakh per unit. This pricing strategy deliberately targets mid-tier factories and warehousing operators who previously could only afford specialized single-function cobots or imported industrial arms. The robot features a 28-degree-of-freedom articulation system, localized AI navigation modules, and a modular end-effector interface that allows quick reconfiguration for pick-and-place, quality inspection, and material handling tasks. By manufacturing key actuators and control systems at its Bengaluru facility, the startup has reduced dependency on imported components, enabling the competitive pricing structure while maintaining a 40 percent gross margin target.
Strategic Deployment and Industry Impact
Production is scheduled to begin in Q4 2024, with initial deployments planned at three partner facilities in Tamil Nadu and Maharashtra. NxtGen Robotics has signed Memoranda of Understanding with two major automotive tier-1 suppliers and a leading e-commerce logistics provider to integrate the Atlas-X units into existing assembly lines. The funding round also supports the establishment of a dedicated training academy in Pune, designed to certify over 500 technicians annually in humanoid robot maintenance, programming, and safety protocols. Industry analysts note that the capital injection will allow the startup to compete directly with established international players while aligning with the Indian government’s PLI scheme for advanced hardware manufacturing. The company plans to list its first commercial fleet by August 2024 and is currently evaluating additional funding tranches to expand export capabilities to Southeast Asian markets.
