Bangalore-based deep-tech startup Stiq Robotics has officially announced the closing of its Series A funding round, securing ₹45 Crores ($5.4 million) from a consortium of venture capital firms. The funding, led by Accel Partners and the India Fund for Innovation, aims to scale up the production of humanoid robots specifically designed for the Indian manufacturing and logistics sectors.

The round brings the company's total funding to over ₹70 Crores since its inception in 2021. Stiq Robotics, co-founded by former ISRO engineers, has been developing bipedal humanoid robots capable of navigating complex industrial environments. The capital will be primarily utilized to establish a dedicated manufacturing facility in Tamil Nadu and to finalize mass production capabilities for its flagship model, the Stiq-X.

Product Roadmap and Pricing Strategy

The Stiq-X humanoid robot is designed to handle repetitive tasks such as assembly line work and material handling. Unlike Western competitors that often price humanoid robots above $50,000, Stiq Robotics has targeted the Indian market with a pricing strategy aimed at affordability. The company aims to price the Stiq-X unit between ₹8 Lakhs and ₹12 Lakhs ($10,000 - $15,000), making it accessible to SMEs and large-scale factories adopting Industry 4.0 technologies.

Features of the Stiq-X include a 6-foot humanoid frame, 120-hour battery life, and AI-driven autonomy for warehouse navigation. The startup plans to leverage India's Production Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme for electronics manufacturing to further reduce costs and localize the supply chain for key components like actuators and sensors.

Market Impact and Strategic Outlook

Industry analysts suggest that this funding round positions Stiq Robotics as a key player in the emerging Indian humanoid robot market. With the government's push for automation to address labor shortages in the manufacturing sector, affordable humanoid solutions are expected to see high demand over the next five years.

Stiq Robotics CEO stated that the funding will enable the company to deploy 50 units for pilot testing in partner factories by Q4 2024. The startup also plans to collaborate with Indian automotive giants to integrate its robots into vehicle assembly lines.
