Bangalore-based robotics firm Aether Dynamics officially unveiled its first commercially viable humanoid robot, AURA-1, on June 12, 2024. The launch marks a significant milestone for India’s domestic robotics ecosystem, as the company positions the machine to address labor shortages in manufacturing and logistics. AURA-1 features dual-arm manipulation, dynamic balance control, and an integrated computer vision system designed for repetitive factory tasks. AURA-1 is equipped with high-torque brushless motors in its joints, enabling a payload capacity of 15 kilograms per arm. The system runs on a custom Linux-based operating system optimized for real-time sensor fusion and path planning. Aether Dynamics has structured the pricing specifically for the Indian market, offering the base model at ₹42 lakhs. The company also provides a leasing framework starting at ₹65,000 per month, which includes maintenance, software updates, and remote diagnostics. Local component sourcing accounts for approximately 70 percent of the bill of materials, with actuators and control boards manufactured in Tamil Nadu and Karnataka.

Deployment Strategy and Industry Partnerships

Initial deployment will focus on automotive assembly lines and consumer electronics factories across Maharashtra, Gujarat, and Karnataka. Aether Dynamics has signed memorandum of understanding agreements with three mid-sized manufacturing groups to conduct pilot installations during the third quarter of 2024. By leveraging local supply chains and in-house software development, Aether Dynamics aims to reduce operational costs for Indian factories by up to 40 percent compared to foreign alternatives. Industry analysts project that affordable humanoid platforms could accelerate automation adoption across India’s small and medium enterprises over the next five years.
