India Humanoid Robotics Expo 2024 Showcases Domestic Manufacturing Breakthroughs - RobotWale News

Event Overview & Key Announcements

The India Humanoid Robotics Expo 2024, held in Bengaluru from November 12–14, brought together over 40 robotics startups, research institutions, and manufacturing partners to showcase the latest developments in domestic humanoid platforms. The three-day event featured live demonstrations of fully autonomous bipedal robots designed for industrial logistics, eldercare, and commercial automation. Organizers reported more than 15,000 attendees, including government delegates, venture capitalists, and international OEM representatives.

Domestic Manufacturing & Pricing Strategy

The expo opened with the official launch of the Agni-H1, a 60kg humanoid robot developed by Bengaluru-based Kinova Robotics. The platform features a custom-designed torque-controlled joint system, 3D vision navigation, and a modular end-effector array. Kinova Robotics priced the Agni-H1 at ₹28 lakhs for the base configuration, with enterprise licensing for AI task orchestration available at ₹4.5 lakhs annually. The company also announced a pilot deployment with a major Indian e-commerce logistics firm starting Q1 2025.

A central theme of the expo was the localization of critical robotics components. Multiple exhibitors highlighted supply chain partnerships established with Indian MSMEs to produce precision gearboxes, harmonic drives, and sensor arrays domestically. The National Robotics Mission, supported by the Department of Science and Technology, provided ₹120 crore in seed funding to participating startups. This funding structure has enabled manufacturers to undercut imported humanoid platforms by approximately 35%, making domestic deployment economically viable for mid-sized factories and healthcare facilities.

Industry Partnerships & Future Roadmap

The event concluded with the signing of a multi-party memorandum of understanding between eight Indian robotics firms, IIT Bombay, and the Tamil Nadu Robotics & Automation Mission. The agreement outlines a standardized testing framework for humanoid safety certification and a shared component procurement pool. Attendees also witnessed a collaborative pilot program between Pune-based NeuroMech and a leading automotive manufacturer to integrate humanoid assistants into battery pack assembly lines. The expo organizers confirmed that the 2025 edition will expand to include a dedicated manufacturing pavilion and a government-backed procurement initiative targeting public infrastructure projects.
